Joshua Hoffine is the father of modern Horror photography.

He stages his photo shoots like small movies, with sets, costumes, props, fog machines, and practical SPFX.

Hoffine coined the term "Horror Photography" in 2003 to describe his first body of work as a photographer. His work exploded on the internet in 2008 when he released a series of images exploring the nature of childhood fears. His widely published images inspired other photographers to stage their own Horror themed photo shoots, inciting a new subgenre in photography.

His Horror photoaraphs have been featured in numerous publications around the world, including Rue Morque, Fangoria, Horror Hound, Scream UK, Virus, Famous Monsters of Filmland, The Atlantic, Vice, Esquire, Washington Post, Mirror UK, Lamono, Exit, LoDown, Beautiful Bizarre, Suspense Magazine, HuffPost, BuzzFeed, BBC, and ABC News.

In 2018 Dark Regions Press published a hardbound collection of his photographs titled Joshua Hoffine Horror Photography.

The comprehensive volume spans 13 ears of work and includes rare behind-the-scenes photos and artist commentary. A signed and numbered Deluxe Limited Edition of the book was also released bound in leather with a dust iacket and black linen slipcase.
